After ten days without power, we finally see relief as the utility crews reach further into the rural areas around Madisonville. I don't think we have cable or internet at my house yet, but I'm in Nashville right now anyway. My family, and as many of our pets as we could take, spent the majority of our time in a small house with 11 other people(and 3 large dogs and countless smaller animals), where we pitched in to keep the small generator filled with gas. As for my own home, the pine tree outside decided it was so cold that it wanted to come into my living room. Yeah, so when it DID warm up, the melting ice came in the hole and utterly soaked the carpet - and I was using pots pans and buckets. It's sad how many trees we lost; some in my yard split in half down the trunk to the ground. As for casualties of the ice, cold, and lack of power, they include my son's pet catfish, all the other fish, my chicken who was recovering from illness, and one of my mother's finches. But at least we made it through with our sanity...and by we i mean me lol.
